The Department of School Education has focused on conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TSTET) in the state of Telangana. Officials believe that there is a need to conduct TET in view of the process of transfer of teachers starting soon. The officials of SCERT have started the exercise of preparing the exam pattern of rules, syllabus and questions as per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines for the exam.
The applications are expected to be received online and the exam is also expected to be conducted online. About three and a half lakh candidates pursuing B.Ed, D.Ed and Bhasha Pandit courses will be benefited by the conduct of TET. When Tet was held in 2017, only 45,000 people qualified. There are now 1.50 lakh fresh B.Ed and D.Ed graduates, while those who could not qualify earlier number around two lakh.
As NCTE has announced that B.Ed graduates are eligible for SGT posts, this time the number of applications is likely to increase. The government has also extended the validity period of TET eligibility certificates to lifetime. This provision will be applicable with retrospective effect from the date of implementation of TET guidelines i.e. 11.02.2011.
TS TET News:
TS TET 2023 will be conducted through online mode this year. The official notification will be out soon and as per the notification schedule the TS TET exam will be conducted for the candidates who have completed B.Ed and D.Ed courses. Tea government feels that before issuing notification for recruitment of new teachers, Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) should be conducted. A basic conclusion seems to have been reached that we cannot move forward without catching Tet.
The candidates who passed B.Ed and D.Ed got TET done and created pressure to increase marks. Legal issues are also expected to arise if not managed. It is noteworthy that before the notification of the last Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT), TET was also conducted.

All candidates having D.Ed./B.Ed. / Candidates pursuing final year of specified courses with required percentage of marks as given in Information Bulletin of TS TET 2023 with Bhasha Pandit or equivalent qualification and who wish to become teachers of classes I to VIII in State Government Schools, Mandal Parishad are Zilla Parishad schools, private aided schools and private aided schools in the state of Telangana. Unaided schools can appear for TS-TET.
Candidates who did not qualify in 1st, 2nd & 3rd & 4th APTET and 1st TS TET 2016 can also apply for TS TET 2023. Apart from this, candidates who have qualified in the previous TET can also apply for TS TET 2023. Should have improved as compared to their previous TET score.
Note: Government may impose additional qualifications in addition to these specific qualifications for teacher posts at the time of “Teacher Recruitment Test” notification. Eligibility Criteria:
While applying for TS TET 2023 candidates must possess the minimum qualification prescribed for teachers for classes I to V (Paper-I) and classes VI to VIII (Paper-II) as given in the Information Bulletin. Candidates in the final year of any teacher education course recognized by NCTE or RCI, as the case may be, and/or Bhasha Pandit training course can also appear for TSTET 2023.
However, it is clarified that appearing or passing TS-TET will not make the candidate eligible for appointment to teaching posts in Government / Zila Parishad / Mandal Parishad / and private aided schools. Possessing such qualification should possess the qualifications prescribed for appointment to such post in the relevant statutory recruitment rules prescribed by the State Government from time to time. Validity Period of TET Certificate/Marks Memo: TS-TET Certificate/Marks Memo is valid for a period of 7 years from the date of TET Exam. As per the guidelines of NCTE.
SCORE : WEIGHTAGE FOR TS-TET SCORES IN SELECTION TO “TELANGANA STATE TEACHERS RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION” TS-TET Score will be given 20% weightage in subsequent teacher recruitment. State Government means, 20% weightage for TS-TET score and 80% weightage for written test in Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT).
Storage of Examination Material: The examination material will be preserved for a period of six months from the date of examination and no application in this regard will be entertained after this period.
Exemption from passing TS-TET: Exempted notification of NCTE before 23.08.2010 or by the competent authority of Govt./local authority as per recruitment rules in force at that time.
However, appointments of teachers working in private schools approved by the competent authority in the government are not exempted from TET. Teachers of private unaided schools can also appear for TET conducted by the state government or the central government.
