Admission to First Year Junior College (FYJC) seats will likely begin next week as the admission authority is still working on finalizing the admission capacity for the academic year 2023-24. Officials in the office of the Deputy Director of Education (DyDE) also confirmed that the process of uploading Class 10 marks for SSC students on the website is still on, due to which there is a delay in filling Part 2 of the form.

FYJC admissions to the city are based on pre-admission registration, which involves filling out a two-part form. The first part of the form is available for filling in basic details, including students’ names, ages, board of education etc. The second part of the form requires students to fill in their 10th-class scores and share a list of ten colleges and courses in which they aim to get a seat (called the preference list).

Between 10 AM to 5 PM, students can visit the colleges for admission, and the college should update the admission details between 5 PM to 6 PM. This process is repeated every day until every student is admitted.

The vacancies are revised from time to time, and students must check the vacancies before applying, and the activities are repeated daily. According to the proposal of the government, the provision is that admission should be on the basis of merit. Allotment of students will be on the basis of merit.

If their merit matches with the cutoff and vacancies in their preferred colleges, the allotment will be done. After the login is complete, the student will be removed from the system. If the admission is not completed, the student is expected to re-lock his/her details for the daily merit process.
